The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) Islamabad has officially introduced a comprehensive Career Counselling Program for students enrolled in government schools and colleges across the capital. The initiative is being implemented under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training to help students make confident and informed academic and career choices.

This full-time, two-year program will support students from elementary classes up to BS level. Through partnerships with professional career counselling firms, the program aims to provide structured guidance tailored to students’ interests, skills, and future goals.

Focus on Informed Career Decisions

As part of the launch, Federal Secretary for Education Nadeem Mahbub visited an active counselling session at Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG), F-6/2, where students were receiving career guidance. Senior officials of the Federal Directorate of Education, including Director General Syed Junaid Akhlaq and Director Academics Riffat Jabeen, were also present during the visit.

The program is designed to move beyond traditional advice by offering scientific and personalized career planning tools.

These services aim to help students understand their strengths and explore multiple academic and professional options instead of following limited or outdated career paths.

Data-Driven and Standardized Approach

A major highlight of the program is the development of standardized counselling material along with a data-based digital dashboard. This system will allow education authorities to track student interests, performance trends, and counselling outcomes, ensuring better planning and policy decisions in the future.

Officials stated that this structured approach will help integrate career counselling services across all FDE institutions in a consistent and effective manner.

Supporting Students for the Future

According to FDE officials, the launch of this career counselling program reflects a strong commitment to preparing students for a rapidly changing job market. By offering early guidance and exposure to diverse career options, the initiative aims to empower students to pursue academic, technical, and professional careers with confidence.

The program is expected to play a key role in reducing confusion among students and aligning education with future workforce needs in Pakistan.
