Visa Requirements
Entry into Pakistan will require a Machine Readable Passport and appropriate visa. Delegates and companions should contact their nearest Pakistan Embassy or Pakistan Consulate to obtain the necessary documents. Assistance, if required, will be available from the Symposium Secretariat (at least six weeks before the Symposium). International delegates and companions traveling by air to Islamabad will arrive at the Islamabad International Airport, about 20 km from the Symposium venue.
Currency
Pakistan has a decimal system of currency with base units as Rupee. Exchange rates with other currencies vary on daily basis. Currency exchange facilities are available at the airport, banks and hotels. Organizers will arrange special counter for currency exchange at Registration Desk. There is no restriction for foreign currency transfer in Pakistan.
Electric Power
Throughout Pakistan, electrical power is supplied at 220 volts, 50 Hertz A.C. The connections for appliances require a two-pin plug.
Location & Climate
The capital city Islamabad (established in 1960 and means the city of peace with a population over 1.5 million) is the hub of scientific and technological activities of Pakistan. Numerous universities, research institutes and relevant industries are located around it. The average climate in month of Nov. is cool with temp. ranging 15-20 °C. It boasts a terrain of hills, valleys and lush green forests and beautiful lakes.
Places of worth visiting are Faisal Mosque, Shakar Pariyan, Rawal Lake and the Islamabad Botanical Garden. The nearby picturesque Murree Hills and historical ruins of Taxila are of great interest.
